Local artists who have been inspired by Dorland Mountain Artist Colony in Temecula will showcase their work at the Mt. San Jacinto College Art Gallery Nov. 5 through Dec. 13.

The artists involved in the “Dorland Mountain Artist Colony Associate Artists Exhibition” support the preservation of Dorland Mountain as an inspiring place of natural beauty for visual artists, writers, composers and musicians to create in solitude. Each participant has experienced the balance of solitude and inspiration provided by Dorland.

A series of works from each artist will be displayed along with statements about their work, their connection with Dorland Mountain and the arts community. Participants include: Michael Barrios Carriere, Janice Cipriani-Willis, Stephen Eldred, Elliot Framan, Dennis Galceran, Lanie Galceran, Robin Golden, Suzanne Lingold, Laura McCoy Plant, Nanci McGraw, Robert McGraw, Todd Montgomery, Barbara Perryman, Reza Sephadari, Linda Stewart and Robert Willis.

A public reception for the artists will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

A literary reading event will take place in the gallery from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Writers involved with Dorland Mountain Artists Colony will each present a sample of their work. Brynn Taylor Ashford, John Gray, Darrin McGraw, Eugenia Parrish, Laura McCoy Plant, Dr. Lisa Sanchez and the Dime Stories writers group of Temecula will participate.

The MSJC Art Gallery is located on the San Jacinto Campus, 1499 N. State St. in San Jacinto. The Art Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Dorland Mountain Artist Colony is a non-profit organization located on a 300-acre preserve that is part of The Nature Conservancy. It is designed to provide creative individuals simple living facilities for work and reflection within a setting of natural beauty. Dorland exists not to increase productivity, but to deepen the quality of the creative process, enabling its residents to explore their own creative resources without distraction.
