A Riverside man was arrested by police at a Menifee residence Friday night and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of attempted murder.
Deric Torrez Martinez, 31, was identified as the suspect in a Sept. 14 shooting in Temecula. The male victim in the incident near Sunflower Drive and Pepper Ridge Court was treated for gunshot wounds and later released.
After identifying Martinez as a suspect, Temecula Police investigators sought an arrest warrant for Martinez and distributed wanted information to the other law enforcement agencies in the region. Friday about 11 p.m., Menifee Police officers located Martinez at an undisclosed residence in Menifee. He was taken into custody without incident.
According to a news release, additional charges are anticipated by both the Menifee Police and the Riverside County Sheriff Department regarding narcotics found in Martinez’s possession when he was arrested in Menifee and upon his person when booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
