Two suspects from Thousand Palms were arrested Thursday for suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property in connection with a crime in Menifee the day before, police said.
Jacy Averna, 19, and Christina Schneider, 27, were taken into custody after investigators identified pieces of stolen jewelry in a pawn shop in Lake Elsinore. The items were determined to be among those stolen Wednesday during a burglary in the 26000 block of Chambers Avenue in Menifee.
According to police, the suspects stole numerous items of jewelry worth thousands of dollars, plus personal documents belonging to the victim.
Investigators on Thursday received information that both suspects were staying at the Pala Casino-Hotel in San Diego County. Officers responded to the casino and located both Averna and Schneider at the hotel. Several more pieces of jewelry stolen in the Menifee burglary were located in their hotel room, as well as stolen items from burglaries committed in the Thousand Palms area.
Averna and Schneider were arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Bail was set at $250,000 each. Schneider was already out on bail for a prior burglary case.
Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Investigator Omar Rodriguez at the Menifee Police Department by calling 951-210-1000, or by email at PerrisStation@RiversideSheriff.org.
