The City of Menifee has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 24 during the Planning Commission's 7 p.m. meeting regarding the city's proposed General Plan.
This is the first comprehensive General Plan in the five-year history of the city. Such a plan is required by Government Code 65302, which requires cities to make specific plans regarding land use, circulation, housing, conservation, open space, noise and safety. Menifee's proposed General Plan would include two additional elements: Community design and economic development.
This public hearing will provide a review of a consulting firm's Environmental Impact Report related to the proposed General Plan. The Draft Environmental Impact Report will be available for public review from Sept. 13 to Oct. 28. A copy of the General Plan and Draft EIR will be available on the city's website as well as at City Hall, The Sun City Library and Paloma Valley Library.
According to the notice of public hearing, the Menifee General Plan includes forecasts of long-term conditions and outlines development goals and policies. It designates land use for up to 63,754 dwellings and up to 10,751,227 square feet of commercial retail and 41,569,476 square feet of nonretail uses.
Any person wishing to comment on the proposed project may do so in writing or in person at the time of the public hearing. Written correspondence should be sent to:
