Two Perris women were arrested after staff members at the Southwest Detention Center intercepted narcotics that were being smuggled into jail through incoming mail, police reported today.
Elizabeth Santamaria (left), 34, and Carolina Moreno, 33, have been charged with burglary and conspiracy for knowingly sending narcotics into a detention facility. This came after an extensive investigation was conducted and a search warrant was served at a residence in the 18600 block of Beck Street in the unincorporated area of Perris.
At the residence, investigators seized additional evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
Moreno is being held in Orange County Jail on a separate offense with charges pending.
