Mt. San Jacinto College will host a community outreach art exhibition from this Thursday, Sept. 12, through Oct. 17 at the college's Art Gallery. There will be a public reception for the exhibition on Sept. 12 from 3-7 p.m.
The art exhibition, entitled "Moving Forward," will be put on by the Art, Recognition, Transition, Education, Reciprocation Youth (A.R.T.E.R.Y.) and has been made possible by the cooperative efforts of the Mt. San Jacinto College Art Gallery, California Family Life Center (CFLC) and its affiliates in Hemet, Rubidoux and Lake Elsinore.
Every year, A.R.T.E.R.Y presents a different themed art gallery centered around serving the community. This year’s theme is “Moving Forward.”
The exhibition will display “Moving Forward” in three phases of life; students will convey the projected issues of time in the present, then move forward 30 years, and finally 60 or more years into their lives.
The primary goal of A.R.T.E.R.Y. is to demonstrate to at-risk youth that fine arts and language arts are effective modes of safe and positive self-expression. The group hopes to show that with the help of fine arts, youth can better navigate through the challenges of life.
