The accident was reported at 3 p.m. Monday but the official police report was not released by the Menifee Police Department until this morning. Both roads remained closed for 4 1/2 hours, causing major traffic jams in all directions.
According to police, they arrived on scene to find the motorcyclist suffering from major injuries and still on the roadway. Medical help had been summoned and the rider was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. The rider, whose identity has not been released, was listed in critical condition in this morning's police report.
The investigation revealed the rider was westbound on Scott Road and it appears the rider failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. The other driver involved was traveling south on Murrieta Road and had proceeded into the intersection after stopping for the stop sign. That driver intended to complete a left turn onto eastbound Scott Road. The motorcyclist struck the side of the car.
This was the second serious accident involving a motorcyclist in Menifee within three days. Saturday night, a Lynwood man died when his motorcycle veered off Haun Road and struck a brick wall surrounding a cell phone tower just south of Holland Road.
any update on the status of the rider. praying everyone is ok and a lesson was learned here instead of a tradegy
