Menifee in Pictures: Newport Road Median Disappears

First the trees in the center median of Newport Road east of Interstate 215 disappeared. Now, in the latest phase of the Newport Road widening project, the median itself is gone. Fresh pavement has been laid in the center of the road and construction continues on the outside lanes.

Plans call for a narrower median to be constructed once an additional lane in each direction is in place, but for now, it's all road -- and a lot of orange cones. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution during the project, which is scheduled to be completed in December.
