Editor's note: We are re-posting our reader poll from Monday because we've had so many responses and we want everyone to have a chance to vote. With more than 600 responses, this is by far our most talked-about reader poll. The topic is explained below. So far, Trader Joe's is the leading preference by a narrow margin over a movie theater. We included Trader Joe's because it's such a popular choice. So far, Trader Joe's executives have said Menifee is not in their plans. But we want to know what's in your plans and dreams. Cast your vote and check out the results!
OK, we're not counting Fitness 19 or the 99 Cents Only Store, because they're already approved and in the construction phase. We're talking about all those other businesses you dream about and constantly write to us about -- as if we influence the decisions around here. :)
Before you cast your vote below, here's an update from Jeff Wyman, economic development director for the City of Menifee:
The developer for the Walmart project approved for Scott Road and Haun Road has indeed won a lawsuit that was delaying the start of construction, but the court process is now in an appeal phase. Therefore, it will be at least another month before you see any movement on that big lot adjacent to the freeway.
As far as a movie theater goes ... Wyman said there has been "multiple interest" from theater companies wishing to work with a developer on such a project. First, however, suitable land would have to be purchased by a developer to provide the site for such a theater. The site across the street from Countryside Marketplace remains a possibility, Wyman said, but so does pretty much any available, properly zoned space in Menifee that a developer could take over.
Of course, you have other choices, listed below -- or you can list another choice under the "other" category. So cast your vote now!
