The Menifee City Council switches its meeting schedule to Wednesday with an Aug. 21 meeting in which budget increases to fund contracts for an interim community development director and an outside public relations consultant will be discussed.
The meeting will take place at City Hall, 29714 Haun Road, beginning at 7 p.m. The council voted last month to move its meetings from Tuesdays to Wednesdays foir the foreseeable future.
One item on the consent calendar of the agenda is a request to approve an agreement with consulting firm MIG, Inc. to provide the city with an interim community development director. Charles LeClaire has been serving in that capacity on a consultant basis since the firing of Carmen Cave last month. According to city documents, the agreement calls for a budget increase of $64,800 for a one-year contract to fund this position.
According to the proposed agreement, "funding is available in the uncommitted, unreserved fund balance of the city's General Fund."
Also on the consent calendar is a proposed agreement with Connect Communications, which has been providing media consulting services for the city since July 1. A total payment of $120,250 is proposed to cover two one-year contracts with Connect Communications: $67,000 for media communications and $53,250 to produce the city's new "Menifee Matters" newsletter.
According to the proposal, $70,000 was included in the General Fund Community Services Department budget. The proposal requests a budget increase of $50,000, which the document said is available in the unrestricted fund balance of the General Fund, to cover the remaining cost of the contract.
As the city's media's consultant, Connect Communications provides the following services, according to city documents:
-- Providing news releases.
-- Strategic planning with city staff to develop communications/media relations strategies on a variety of topics.
-- Production and distribution of the city's monthly E-newsletter.
-- Updating and monitoring of the city's various social media sites.
-- Public outreach and external communication projects.
