Evacuations have been ordered for the communities of Poppet Flats, Silent Valley and Twin Pines as a result of the second major fire in the Inland Empire in the last few days.

The Silver Fire south of Banning has covered more than 5,000 acres since it was reported at 2:05 this afternoon. Multiple structures in Twin Pines have burned. One firefighter and one civilian injury are reported, extent unknown.

This fast-moving fire was reported as 0 percent contained at 5:30 p.m. About 450 fire personnel are battling the blaze, which is just south of Interstate 10 near the base of Mt. San Jacinto.

Evacuation centers have been set up at Hemet High School and Beaumont High School. Highway 243 is closed between Banning and Azalea Trail in Poppet Flats.

The Falls Fire, which has been burning since in the hills west of Lake Elsinore since Monday morning, is now 78 percent contained and has covered 1,416 acres.
