Story updated at 3 p.m. with details and photo regarding an additional search in Menifee:
FBI agents served search warrants at a restaurant and at a private residence in Menifee today, an FBI spokesperson and residents confirmed.
About 10 federal agents took part in a search and investigation at the China Wok Express and Donuts restaurant at 26100 Newport Road, in the shopping center formerly occupied by an Albertson's market. At about the same time, FBI agents and Santa Ana Police officers were seen outside a house in the 304000 block of White Fir Drive in Menifee.
Laura Eimiller of the FBI office in Los Angeles said "multiple search warrants" were being served in Menifee this morning. She confirmed the restaurant location but didn't immediately have confirmation on the residential search or whether the two were related.
Eimiller said that the warrant at China Wok Express and Donuts was issued for the purpose of seeking evidence in an ongoing investigation. She cannot comment on the nature of the investigation because the warrant is sealed.
FBI agents could be seen inside the restaurant, interviewing at least one individual, an Asian man. A handmade sign on the door said "closed today", and an agent at the door said agents could not comment.
Later this morning, a resident reported agents and police officers standing outside a residence on White Fir Drive. The resident, who took this photo of agents outside the house, said officers waited at the front door for several minutes and then picked up what appeared to be a battering ram police use to break down a door. She did not see what happened next, however, and she said later, everything seemed normal.
The woman said she has seen an Asian man come and go from that residence a few times in the last five years, but that she doesn't know anything about him.

Scary
ReplyDeleteI live next door to them, been here over two years. I have never seen anything remotely suspicious going on there. They've always seemed like nice people who mostly keep to themselves.
ReplyDeleteQuite concerning.
