Adult and youth runners are invited to test their abilities on a challenging obstacle and mud course in the Defenders Dash Mud Run, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8 a.m. at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center in Riverside.
The center, located just west of the March Air Reserve Base, features a 3.5-mile course with the largest mud pit in Southern California. The event is sponsored by the Riverside Sheriff's Association and Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation Inland Empire, Special Olympics-Southern California and Dominic Durden Memorial Scholarship via the Riverside Community College District.
An accompanying Kids' Mud Run of a quarter-mile is free to enter. To sign up for the adult event, the fee is $40 before Sept. 1; $50 from Sept. 2-14; and $60 on Sept. 13 or race day.
Teams of 10 or more runners registered by Aug. 18 will receive a $5 discount per person.
