The Perris Union High School District will implement its technology integration plan, Scholar+, over the course of the 2013-14 school year, according to a news release from the district.
Scholar+ is a technological teaching and learning plan that includes providing Chromebooks for students and iPads for teachers. The District is issuing Google Chromebooks to all students beginning this semester. Teachers were issued iPads in June.
With Scholar+, students will be able to use technology in the classroom, library, hallways and almost any location on campus. Students will also be able to take their device home.
Teachers participated in professional development over the course of the summer and will continue to do so throughout the school year. With the iPads, teachers will be able to create interactive lessons, record lessons either ahead of time or during instruction and post them to a Learning Management System for students to access at any time.
iPads can be used by teachers to take attendance, check grades and can be used to individually review student performance and achievement from any location in the class or on campus.
Scholar+ was possible for PUHSD as a result of significant increases in restricted categorical funding allocations that began in 2012-13 and the state budget providing one-time funds for the implementation of the program for the 2013-2014 school year, according to district officials.
Scholar+ is being implemented to better district advancements with an emphasis on instructional technology to help prep students for college and career readiness.
