Update on Monday at 3 p.m.:

Two people were killed and four others suffered major injuries in a traffic accident Sunday at Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road in Winchester, according to Riverside County Fire officials.

The two Menifee residents killed in the collision have now been identified as Monica Rochin, 49, and Rosy Vargas, 35.

The accident was reported at 11:44 a.m. Two vehicles were involved and victims were trapped inside, fire officials said. Rochin and Vargas died at the scene. Four patients were transported to local hospitals -- one by air ambulance -- and Animal Control was called to assist two injured dogs.

A stretch of Domenigoni Parkway was closed for more than three hours following the accident.

  2. I drive this road every day and in over a year I have not seen one CHP officer. Why? The speed limit is 70 and people pass me briskly when I am driving at 75. They weave in and out of traffic at high speeds because they know this area is never monitored. Why?
