A Riverside County Sheriff's Department official said today that the 16-year-old male arrested on suspicion for murder in the Terry Dewayne Smith Jr. case remains in police custody and that he would not be released before the district attorney decides about filing charges.
Deputy Albert Martinez said a report being circulated on a Facebook page saying the suspect was released from jail is false.
"These things are taken case by case, but there's no reason shown that this suspect would be released prior to charges being filed," Martinez said.
The DA's office probably won't make that determination until at least Friday, a spokesperson said.
Several readers have contacted Menifee 24/7 with concerns because of postings about the suspect's rumored release on the Facebook page "Skylor is innocent." This appears to be a page created Wednesday by friends and supporters of the half brother of Terry Smith Jr.

I am curious to know how old the remains of Juju are. I want to know if his mother gave false Information and led are searchers estray. I still pray for Juju and I know he is in Gods hands now. I pray for justice against anyone that took part in Juku's murder.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I am wondering. Seems to me the family should be able to positively ID him. I know it was hot here but it would take a while for him to be unrecognizable correct? I'm so sad. I could not and would not want to imagine what that little boy went through.
