A Wildomar man has been charged with driving under the influence, evading police, possession of a controlled substance, violation of parole and possession of an open alcohol container after a series of events on the evening of July 1 that ultimately led to his arrest.
At 6:45 p.m., Lake Elsinore Police responded to a burglary call in the area of Highway 74 and Rosetta Canyon. According to police, before arriving on scene, information was received that the white male suspect, William Huntsinger, 33, was seen leaving the area in a silver Honda Accord.
Upon spotting the suspect, responding officers attempted to stop the driver. A vehicle pursuit was initiated when Huntsinger failed to stop his car.
The suspect ultimately disabled his vehicle. He was pepper sprayed after refusing to exit his car after Police requested him to.
A small amount of a controlled substance and an open container of alcohol were located within the passenger compartment of the vehicle when Huntsinger was taken into custody.
The suspect was later take to a local hospital for decontamination due to pepper-spray.
