Menifee Police officers shot and wounded a man during a burglary in progress in Quail Valley early this morning, according to police and community service officials.
The shooting occurred after officers responded to the report of a residential burglary at 3:26 a.m. in the 23000 block of Norma Drive, said Dep. Myling Bordeau of the Riverside Sheriff's Department. The exact location of the shooting is unknown, but the area surrounding a Cirle K market a few blocks away was blocked off and a stretch of Goetz Road was shut down until early afternoon because of the investigation.
Police have not released details of the suspect's medical condition. However, a volunteer community service officer standing guard near the Circle K market said the male suspect was hit in the arm and leg and was taken to a local hospital. No officers were injured, he said.
Neighbors reported hearing shots fired about 3 a.m.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Gomez at the Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit at 760-393-3500 or Investigator Salisbury with the Menifee Police Department at 951-210-1000.
I heard that the suspect passed away?? Any new updates?
ReplyDeleteThe suspect did not die
ReplyDeleteThat's unfortunate. With Governor Brown’s system he will be probably only serve time in the hospital.
