Police are searching for a Menifee man accused of stabbing an acquaintance multiple times and fleeing the scene this afternoon.
The suspect was identified as Richard Mount, 54, of unincorporated Menifee. According to police, Mount was involved in an argument with a 53-year-old Wildomar man on the shoulder of Cottonwood Canyon Road in Wildomar about noon today. During the argument, Mount allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim numerous times in the chest and left arm. Mount then fled the scene.
The victim was able to call 911 and report the incident. The victim was initially located by an unidentified good Samaritan passerby who provided emergency first aid to the most serious wounds, until emergency personnel arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment for his wounds and is expected to survive.
The public is to consider Mount armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a blue older model pick-up, possibly a Nissan Frontier. Any persons with information about this incident or the whereabouts of Richard Mount are urged to call 911 or, during business hours, Investigator Cornett of the Wildomar Police Department at 951-245-3357.
