Weekend Head-On Collision on Highway 74 Injures 9

Nine people were injured and eight transported to area hospitals following a head-on traffic collision Saturday night on Highway 74 near Winchester Road, according to Riverside County Fire officials.

The collision involved a passenger van and SUV. Three people had to be extricated after being trapped in their vehicle. Three patients were listed with serious injuries, five with moderate injuries, and one refused treatment.

The incident occured just after 9 p.m. Westbound lanes on Highway 74 at Winchester Road were closed for a brief period.
