At Menifee 24/7, we realize you have options in finding news coverage of Menifee. We know also that those options seem to be diminishing. Changes in methods of news delivery and in corporate ownership have made the newspaper business more challenging than ever before.
But we want you to know that we're here for you. Our mission to be Menifee's primary source of news is stronger than ever before. We don't answer to corporate officers. As an online-only news site, we don't have the overhead of printing and delivery costs. And we have a group of loyal advertisers that continues to grow.
So while other news sources are cutting back or shutting down, Menifee 24/7 is expanding. The changes you've seen in recent months are just the beginning. Over the next month, we'll offer our readers even more content, including:
-- More thorough, consistent coverage of city government.
-- More profiles of interesting people in the community.
-- Increased use of video reports.
-- Bylines from more staff members.
-- More of the real-time reporting of crime and other breaking news that you've seen on our Facebook page.
-- Additional fliers and news briefs about community non-profit groups, clubs, school activities and more.
All of these services are offered free of charge to our readers. But for those who want a little extra, we will soon be offering the following services for a nominal fee:
-- Repeated news postings on the website and promos on our Facebook page for non-profit groups that desire more than the one-time, free posting we now offer them.
-- Print copies of those "keeper" articles you always cut out of your newspaper to save or perhaps frame on your wall: An award won by a relative, a profile of a close friend, etc. For a small charge, readers will be able to order a hard copy of the article -- attractively displayed, without any ads or adjoining content, on a slick glossy finish.
Stay tuned for more details about these additional features we will offer to those who are interested.
So please let us hear from you as we implement these additions and expanded coverage of the next few weeks. Let us know what you'd like to see more of, what you like and don't like, and the things you longer get from other local news sources that you'd like to see here.
We encourage you to leave comments here or email doug.spoon@gmail.com. And thanks for your continued support.

I like knowing what is going on in my community. Thank you for what you do.
ReplyDeleteMost of the publications that I have been reading the past few years are now behind a pay wall. Thank you for going against the trend and providing more coverage for free.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Thank you. Thank you. It really is nice to know what is happening in Menifee. The increased coverage of local government is so important. Keep up the great work that you do.
