Two wildland fires reported in outlying areas today are at or near containment.
A vegetation fire in the 28300 block of Patterson Avenue in Winchester has covered about five acres and was 75 percent contained at 3:10 p.m., according to Riverside County Fire officials. The fire was first reported at 1:15 p.m. and has destroyed several outbuildings (sheds, etc.). Damage is estimated at $10,000.
Eleven engine companies responded to the fire and resources will remain on the scene for an estimated four hours. No injuries were reported.
In Wildomar, one structure and two outbuildings were damaged in a fire in the 21900 block of Walnut Street. The fire was contained to two acres of vegetation. Eighteen engine companies responded. No injuries were reported.
There are no details on the cause of either fire.
