Friends of the Sun City Library seeks volunteers to work in the library's bookstore.
The bookstore is a major source of financial support for the library programs and purchases. There are two types of volunteer positions available.
First is the Bookstore Manager. Likely candidates are those who have a general interest in books, computer literacy, and flexible hours to oversee the merchandising of the many books and media donated to the bookstore. No experience is needed, but retail management experience is desirable.
The bookstore manager trains and oversees the other volunteer workers who sort and sell the inventory. Physically, the candidates need ability to bend and reach, and lift 20-30 pound boxes. The Friends’ bookstore is the primary source of income to support the library’s programs. Inquiries may be made by calling 951-672-1731.
Secondly, there is a need for more volunteers in the bookstore itself. Volunteers are involved in sorting, pricing and shelving the books and other items that are donated by the community. They may, also, work as cashiers during the hours that the library is open. No experience is necessary, but an interest in service and contributing to the success of the library is. Training is available and frequent to assist the volunteers to be successful.
A variety of shifts are available, days and evenings. Pick up an application at the bookstore inside of the Sun City Library, 26982 Cherry Hills Blvd, Sun City.
