Menifee 24/7 Readers Win Tickets to Storm's Home Opener

Five Menifee 24/7 readers were selected as winners of four tickets each to the home season opener of the Lake Elsinore Storm, the area's local professional baseball team.

These readers, along with family and friends, will enjoy Thursday night's California League game between the Storm and the Inland Empire 66ers. Lake Elsinore, which opened the season on the road, is 4-2 so far this season.

In a contest co-sponsored by Menifee 24/7 and the Storm, readers were asked what they liked about Storm baseball games or why they wanted to attend for the first time. Based on their responses, five winners were chosen to receive a set of four tickets to Thursday's game.

Me and my family of four are anxiously awaiting our first Storm game of the year! Last year we went to three games and the boys (4 and 6) were more interested in the kids zone. We went to the Diamond for the St. Patty's Day Sip and Swig event, and my 6-year-old was devastated that there was not a game that day. I was in awe because I thought he would be stoked to play in the kids zone that was set up that day, but no, he wanted to watch a ballgame! It made me so proud, since last year we spent half he game in the kid zone and now he wants to watch the ballgame! GO STORM!

First, I would like to thank Menifee 24/7 for teaming up with Lake Elsinore Storm to hold this contest.

My family and I enjoy going to the Lake Elsinore Storm games. We love the local feel and the friendliness of the staff and the fans that attend the games. It's a real family friendly event that we try to attend yearly.

Below are additional reasons why we love attending:

1. Great seating for everyone
2. Convenient parking that is close to the stadium
3. No traffic jams getting to the stadium or leaving the stadium
4. Conveniently located close to the freeway
5. Wonderful facilities that are well kept

Ever since I was a little kid, my great grandpa would take me and my mom to baseball games. Since then, it has been a tradition for my mom and I to go to any local baseball games we can, even after my grandpa's passing. Since April 11 is my mom's 50th birthday, I would really like to surprise her by taking her to a game and continuing this tradition.

She raised me all by herself and has been there for me through so much and done so much for me, I would love to give back to her for a change. It has also been my dream as a singer to sing the national anthem at a Storm game in honor of my great grandpa. If you could make this happen as well, I am sure it would be a great addition to my mom's birthday. Thank you.

You know, it is crazy, but for whatever reason and considering the fact that I have lived in this area for well over 30 years, I have never been to a single Storm game ... sad, huh? Well, I have a fabulous reason why I should win four tickets. I have a husband and two wonderful children now (family of four) and I know we could all use a "family fun night" out together watching one of America's greatest pastimes -- baseball.

I grew up playing softball and my husband also played Little League baseball when he was a boy and I would love to get my children involved in this sport as well, so what better way to introduce them to baseball and to be able to see some great athletes playing what I believe is such a great sport!

Baseball is a huge part of my boyfriend's life. Since living in the Inland Empire, we have always made it our goal to go and support our local teams. We love the passion and dedication these men have in pursuing their dreams. I would love to have the opportunity to win tickets to the home opener on Thursday because not only is the Storm our favorite team but it is also my boyfriend's birthday, April 11!
