Four suspects were arrested Monday following an armed bank robbery in Lake Elsinore, police reported.
Here's the full text of the press release given to the media on Tuesday:
On April 15, at 12:55 p.m., Riverside County Sheriff's Dispatch received a report of an armed robbery at the Bank of America, located at the 29000 block of Canyon Hills Road, Lake Elsinore. The caller reported three black males, armed with handguns, wearing masks and wigs, robbed the bank. The caller stated the males left in a white SUV style vehicle.
During the robbery, one bank employee was struck by one of the suspects. The employee was later treated at the scene for minor injuries. Officers and investigators from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the area and found a white Chevrolet Tahoe, parked on Franklin and Canyon Estates, in the City of Lake Elsinore. A computer check of this vehicle showed it was reported stolen out of Compton. The vehicle was unoccupied and on fire. The fire appeared to be intentionally set inside the vehicle. The initial responding officer was able to extinguish the fire.
During a further search of the area, two black males were located standing in front of a vehicle, which was parked at a residence in the 31000 block of Canyon Estates. As an investigator approached the males, one of the males saw the investigator, and he quickly put a purse under the front bumper of the vehicle. The purse was later found to contain money matching the amount taken during the robbery.
Both males ran away from the vehicle and began jumping fences through the neighborhood. The Riverside Sheriff's helicopter and a Sheriff's service dog responded and assisted in apprehending both males. One of the males was in possession of a loaded handgun, gloves and a ski mask. A third suspect was taken into custody inside the residence.
While units were setting up a perimeter in the area, a Lake Elsinore Police Motorcycle Officer stopped a vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and was stopped at Canyon Estates and Summer Hill. The driver of this vehicle was later identified as one of the suspects in the robbery.
The initial investigation identified the suspects as:
Derrel Boulden, age 32
Doann Jackson, age 31
Charles Tate III, age 22
Jamal Williams, age 27
These suspects were booked into the Southwest Detention Center for the following crimes: Armed bank robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property.
This investigation is ongoing and the Lake Elsinore Police Department would like anyone with information about this case to call the Lake Elsinore Detective Bureau at 951-245-3300, and ask for Investigator Cornett or Investigator Callahan. After hours, call 951-776-1035.
