Police responding to a domestic disturbance call Sunday night found a man and woman dead in the front yard of a home in Menifee, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department officials.
While en route to the scene in the 33000 block of Merritt Road, deputies were advised that shots were fired at the location. Police arrived to discover two people deceased in the front yard of the residence.
Investigators from the Menifee Police Department and the Central Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation. According to police, the investigation revealed that the male suspect shot and killed the female, then shot and killed himself.
A news release from the County Coroner's office identified the female as 49-year-old Debra Vandyke of Menifee. The identity of the male, listed as age 68 by the Coroner's office, has not been released pending next of kin notification.
