Traffic on the northbound Interstate 215 through Menifee was brought to a standstill Tuesday morning because of a four-car collision with one person trapped inside a vehicle.

The accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. just north of the McCall Blvd. exit, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Two fire engines and California Highway Patrol officers responded, in addition to emergency medical vehicles. One person was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with moderate to minor injuries, fire officials said. Three other persons were unharmed.

Traffic was backed up for miles and some motorists reported taking a half hour to drive from the Scott Road exit to the Newport Road exit.
