Menifee in Pictures: Sometimes, This Bird Isn't Humming

Joe Quinn enjoys sitting on the patio of his home just off the 18th green of the Menifee Lakes Country Club golf course and watching the hummingbirds gather. Yes, hummingbirds -- those quick little creatures whose wings beat up to 80 times per second. As you can see, they do sometimes perch on a branch for a quick rest. Wouldn't you?

It's hard to see the long, needlenose beak on this colorful fellow, but the photo below -- taken previously by Quinn -- shows that they really do come in for a landing once in a while.
