So consider this your reader survey -- your opportunity to tell us what you like about our site, what you don't like, what you'd like to see more of (or less of) on Menifee 24/7.
Our goal is to be the main source for news and entertainment in Menifee and a forum for a free exchange of ideas and opinions among our readers. We will continue to promote local businesses through standing ads and "advertorials," helping to build our local economy while providing us with the revenue stream we need to provide you free, quality service. But we want to be much more than that.
We are constantly searching for the right mix of content for the Menifee reader. Some may be most interested in city government. For others, the priority could be club news, or Little League results, or more profiles of interesting people in the community.
The more you tell us, the better we'll be able to serve you. So please leave a comment here with your feelings about our site and what you'd like to see here. I would like to see more follow up to crime news. If an article states that the police are looking for a certain suspect, I would like to see a follow up article.

DeleteMost of the items metioned above are good for us. I would like to suggest that the information provided be specific to MENIFEE. Several times we have seen stories about things going on in Lake Elsinore and Hemet and while they are surrounding areas, they are not Menifee.
ReplyDeleteI like to see information about surrounding communities because we interact with one another, and that is a good thing. I live in Lake Elsinore but shop in Menifee and Murietta as well. Should I stop doing that? I also have a rental house in Menifee, so I have a keen interest in Menifee.
DeleteIn my opinion, there are already enough media sources covering surrounding areas. The reason 24/7 appeals to me so much IS its focus on Menifee. Don't expand, it would diminish the local feel.

ReplyDeleteWould like to see a Veteran monthly update. You could talk about the local VFW Post and the Vet Center at MSJC. Also you could promote new members joining the military from local families and those returning from deployments. Menifee has a large population of veterans yet there is not much coverage other than on Veteran Day.

I know that you need local business for financial support - but I would like to see less about businesses ads and more about what is happening around all the areas of Menifee. More local school, church and community activities. I also agree that follow up on crime would be good to know. I think occasional public interest topics - i.e. how to protect your home from crime, child protection etc would be of interest.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a 'man on the street' remarks/concerns in real time. Have one of your reporters approach a Menifee resident as he exits from Starbucks, and ask him his opinion on something happening in our city, or...ask him/her what they would like to see change or different in our city. Ask young as well as old folks. it will give us a 'fresh perspective' rather than thought out or rehearsed.
ReplyDeleteWe have lived in Menifee for past year, and 22 years in Murrieta so we love the area. We'd like to see as much information as you can on new restaurants, new home constructions, store updates and special sales, commercial development and hopefully about that the new theatre breaking ground soon! :) Would also like updated info on active senior lifestyle events as we enjoy those. Doug you do a great job and your newsletter is greatly appreciated - I read it faithfully every day! thank you!!

ReplyDeleteCrime Reports tell us what is happening where we live and Letter to Editor tells us what others think. Other than that your list is on track.
ReplyDeleteThe preference listed by "BEN" would be mine also. I would expand City Government to include more depth than what the members of city government email to you,which is mostly self serving and not the true or complete facts.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see an in depth report on City Council meetings. The minutes that the city publishes on its website are most often, months late, and by the time they do post, the results are likely insignificant. They rarely cover any topic in depth, and discuss very little on issues introduced by the public. For those of us unable to attend the meetings, quick access to an agenda item that affects us could be valuable information.
