The makeup of the Menifee City Council will change dramatically Tuesday night, when two new council members are sworn in -- including a new mayor.
Scott Mann, a former council member and now the city's first elected mayor, will take office a few minutes into the 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall. Joining him will be newly elected District 1 representative Greg August and District 3 representative Wallace Edgerton, who retained his council seat in the Nov. 6 election.
Mann, August and Edgerton will join outgoing mayor John Denver and Tom Fuhrman on the newly configured city council. They will be sworn in after the election results are declared official and outgoing council members Darci Kuenzi and Sue Kristjansson are given presentations.
In a hard-fought election a month ago, Mann defeated Kuenzi to become the first Menifee mayor elected by the public. August defeated Kristjannson and two other candidates to win the District 1 council seat. Edgerton defeated Bill Zimmerman, currently chair of the Planning Commission, in District 3.
After the new council is seated, council members will enter closed session for an employee evaluation of city attorney Joseph Fletcher. In its last meeting, the city council announced a termination agreement with City Manager Bill Rawlings following closed session.
Rob Johnson, a senior manager for the City of Menifee, was named acting city manager.
