Memorial Service Scheduled Jan. 3 for Tom Carpenter

A memorial service for longtime Sun City attorney and Menifee community servant Tom Carpenter will be held Thursday, Jan. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 27931 Murrieta Road in Sun City.

Carpenter died Dec. 27 at his home after a long bout with prostate cancer. He was 79.

A former Marine and graduate of the Loyola University School of Law in Chicago, Carpenter was a partner in a law firm in Sun City for more than 40 years. He was also a charter member of the Sun City / Menifee Rotary Club and was involved in many other community organizations.

Carpenter is survived by his wife, Vicki; children Tom, John, Lisa (Moser), Drew and Renee (Johnson); and brother, Raymond Carpenter. Also surviving him are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 2 from 4-8 p.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MSJC Foundation or to Hospice of the Valleys.
