Staff members at the Miller Jones Mortuary in Menifee discovered Monday morning that a life-sized bronze statue had been stolen from the front of the building. According to a Riverside County Sheriff's report, employees believe the theft occurred on Sunday evening.
The statue is a life-sized depiction of a child climbing a tree to touch a bird. Additionally, a large bronze plaque was stolen from the location at 26770 Murrieta Road.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding the theft is encouraged to call Investigator Guy Gilbert with the Riverside Sheriff's Department/Perris Station at 951-210-1000.

Amazing what some people will do for money. My guess is they will try and sell it as scrap. My son is buried just west of the statue and we will miss him having his friend.
