Murrieta Firefighters Association Local 3540 will present the American Cancer Society with a check for $1,592 -- the amount collected from the Phil Armentrout Memorial Trapshoot Contest.
Armentrout was a former Murrieta Fire Chief who lost his 12-year battle with cancer in 2005. The Murrieta Firefighters Association will present the check to Jana Johnson, event chair for Relay for Life Riverside County, at Station 5, 38391 Vineyard Parkway, at 5 p.m. today.
Murrieta Firefighters respond to and treat many people with cancer and have among them two survivors of cancer. This is one of the many fights they take on as firefighters and have shared in the struggles of this disease.
