City Council members Tuesday night made a special presentation to Menifee resident Theresa Duffey, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on Oct. 29.
Mayor John Denver joined council members Wallace Edgerton, Sue Kristjansson, Tom Fuhrman and Darcy Kuenzi in honoring Duffey at the start of the council's regular meeting. Details of her life were read as part of the proclamation and Duffey briefly addressed the audience.
Duffey was born in a small town north of Maples, Italy. Her family came to America when she was only 7 years old, ending up in Chicago. Her entire family became U.S. citizens and Duffey later married. She now resides in a senior community in Menifee, watching the Lakers and spending time with her daughters, who live in the same community.
Duffey is the second Menifee resident to celebrate her 100th birthday this month. Dora Unger turned 100 on Oct. 1.
