The Heritage High School football team used a balanced offense to dominate its Sunbelt League opener Friday night, scoring an impressive 52-6 victory at Perris High.
Seven different players scored touchdowns for Heritage, which is 5-1 overall this season. The Patriots compiled 375 yards total offense and the defense held Perris to just 10 yards rushing.
Jamal Morrow rushed for 106 yards and one touchdowns on just eight carries for Heritage. David Lemus, Joseph Powell, Marvin Hifo and Sione Takitaki also ran for touchdowns for the Patriots. In addition, quarterback Mat Bradshaw completed 4 of 9 passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Heritage even got a touchdown from defensive lineman Alexi Garci-Vilchis, who recovered a fumble and ran 90 yards for a score.
In its league opener at Elsinore High, Paloma Valley scored two touchdowns late in the game and mounted one final drive, but a field goal attempt failed in a 31-28 loss.
David Solis carried 19 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns for Paloma Valley, which is 5-1 overall. Quarterback Brent Boehm completed 16 of 24 passes for 278 yards.
