Voters in Menifee will have two opportunities to hear from candidates in the upcoming city elections in forums scheduled this week.
All candidates have been invited to participate in a forum sponsored by Southern California Edison on Wednesday at noon at Menifee Lakes Country Club. This event is being held in conjunction with the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce's quarterly luncheon.
Admittance to the forum is free and lunch can be purchased for $15. This is an opportunity for residents to meet and hear from all candidates for mayor and city council positions.
Those wishing to attend should RSVP by 4 p.m. today to the Chamber office, 951-672-1991 or by email at chamber.danielle.yahoo.com.
Another forum will be sponsored by the Menfee/Perris Valley Democratic Club Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Provident Bank, corner of Cherry Hills Blvd and Sun City Blvd. Those candidates who didn't speak at last month's meeting of the club will participate in this forum.
Those include John F. Smith, candidate for mayor; District 3 council candidate Wallace Edgerton; and District 1 candidates Greg August, Nick Martin and Carol Sullivan.

Everyone who can find the time should attend these and other candidate forums. Menifee residents have to choose now whether we want a city council that will squabble and get little done or one that can fix bridge traffic and get county and state support to move this city forward to a brighter future.
