Two Menifee City Council members have qualified to run for city government positions in the November election.
Darcy Kuenzi, one of three announced candidates for the office of mayor, has become the first of those three to be certified by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters. Scott Mann and John Smith, the other two mayoral candidates, have until Friday to become certified for the ballot.
Sue Kristjansson has been certified to run for re-election as a council member in District 1. That's the most crowded of the two districts with open seats. Greg August, Nick Martin and Carol Sullivan have also announced their plans to run in that district.
Kuenzi will join Kristjansson and District 3 candidate Bill Zimmerman in a candidate forum Thursday night at the regular meeting of the Menifee-Perris Valley Democratic Club. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Provident Bank, 27010 Sun City Blvd. The public is welcome.
"I plan to attend as many events as I possibly can with my schedule," Kuenzi said. "It's important people get a chance to see everybody together and size them up."
