The Menifee 14U softball team is headed to the nationals in Fort Collins, Colo. |
For the first time ever, a Menifee team is headed to the Amateur Softball Association national tournament. To do so, the team needs your help.
By finishing in the top 12 of last weekend's state tournament, the Menifee 14U girls softball team qualified for the Western B Nationals in Fort Collins, Colo., from July 31 to Aug. 5. Menifee posted a 3-2 record in the 32-team double elimination state tournament for a seventh-place finish against tough competition.
According to Jim Gray of the Menifee 14U team, the cost of the trip to nationals will be approximately $800 per player. This includes gas, lodging, food and various other expenses. Donations from the public to help with the costs would be appreciated.
Those wishing to make a donation may contact Jim Gray at 951-667-0105 or email jegray1@mac.com. Checks payable to MVGSA may also be mailed to P.O. Box 2304, Sun City CA 92586.
The Menifee 12U team also participated in the state tournament last weekend. That team went 1-2 in the tournament and was eliminated. Both Menifee teams are gearing up for the fall season as well.
Sign-ups for the fall season will be accepted online at www.menifeeasa.com. Team officials will also be at the Menifee Ralphs and Sports Chalet stores July 14, 21, 28 and Aug, 4 and 11.
