Menifee "drivers" of all ages are invited to participate in the 2012 Menifee Soap Box Derby Race, scheduled for Sept. 8 on a downhill stretch of Menifee Road.
Participants will build their own full-size racer, in which they can sit and race down the hill against other drivers. Clinics will be held in advance to help competitors design and build their race cars. Competitors may have more than one driver assigned to each car, not to exceed three drivers.
The event is sponsored by the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District. To register, visit vwrpd.org, stop by the Valley-Wide office in the gym at Bell Mountain Middle School, or call Valley-Wide staff member Joe Schnake at 951-654-1505 or 951-672-6744.
