A fire severely damaged a vacant home on a hillside near Holland Road and Murrieta Road in Menifee Wednesday night. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to fire officials.
Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters responded at 8:36 p.m. to the scene in the 2600 block of Holland Road, just east of Murrieta Road. They reported a single-family dwelling fully involved, along with a quarter-acre of trees and vegetation. Nine engine crews responded. The fire was reported contained at 9:04 p.m.
From the far side of Holland Road, where onlookers gathered to watch the blaze, flames could be seen shooting up from the burning trees and remains of the home. Sheriff's deputies blocked traffic at Holland Road and Red Fox Road.
No damage estimates were available as of late Wednesday night.
