'Menifee Rides' Carpool Program Now Has a New Website

Yes, we're still here. But the "Menifee Rides" program -- first proposed here as a solution to the city's school bus reduction -- has a new home.

Beginning today, you can read all about the needs and offers of assistance regarding the challenge of transporting our children to school. Thanks to those who have already responded. Your comments are now posted on the new site, which you should refer to from now on:

Here, you can see who needs help, where and when. You can offer your services as part of a carpool or as a volunteer in one of many ways. There is a definite need here, folks, and your help is needed. School bus service isn't going to increase any time soon, and school starts in two weeks. It's up to us to work together and make sure our children get to school safely and on time.

As you post comments on the new site, an exchange between parents in common residential areas and with similar circumstances will begin. Our site moderator -- me, for now -- will work with you to put people together, preserve confidentiality and create a safe environment for students before and after school.
