The City of Menifee will provide free shuttle service from the Sun City community to the 21st Annual Independence Day Celebration Event on Saturday at Wheatfield Park.
Vehicles from a private transport company will pick up passengers at the Sun City Civic Association north parking lot, corner of Cherry Hills Blvd. and Sun City Blvd. The white 17-passenger Sprinter Van will also take passengers from Wheatfield Park back to the Sun City Civic Association after or during the event.
Originally the idea of City Manager Bill Rawlings, the free shuttle service is to insure transportation to the event for those who may not be able to get to the park on their own. The shuttle service will operate continuously from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
City officials hope to expand services such as this to other events throughout the year.
The celebration begins with a parade down La Piedra Road from Antelope Road to Menifee Road, beginning at 5 p.m. The parade concludes at Wheatfield Park, where guests can enjoy a kids fun zone, craft and food booths and fireworks at approximately 9 p.m.
