Beyond feeding many hungry families in Menifee, the Community Cupboard also provides a for-the-cause thrift store that is just as much fun as it is beneficial.
Located in the heart of Sun City, the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard Thrift Store benefits from surrounding retiree contributions, where vintage treasures befall the thrift shelves on an everyday basis.
Offering everything from furniture and home goods, to vintage records and books, gently used linens, clothing, accessories, shoes, and purses for both men and women, as well as a small selection of children’s apparel, they pretty much have it all.
Pretty costume jewelry and vintage baubles fill glass cases while well organized clothing hangs in color coordinated order.
Whether you have $2 or $20, with their rock bottom prices you could redo your entire wardrobe for whatever your budget may be. In fact, the springtime outfits below were put together for under $6 each.
As if their prices weren’t low enough, the first and third Saturday of every month is $5 dollar bag day, this month’s $5 dollar day is coming up on Saturday, May 19th.
Upon embarking on your Saturday shopping excursion at the Community Thrift you will be handed a 7 to 10 gallon plastic bag of which you may stuff to the gills and then pay a mere $5 dollars for.
Director of the Community Cupboard, Sandy Aldridge says, "On $5 days there is always a crowd of people already lined up by the time we open the doors at 8 AM, and they are ready to shop!"
Of course, all proceeds go directly to the Community Cupboard a couple of doors down in the same shopping center, so should you feel the desire to donate more than your total, monetary donations are welcomed.
The Community Cupboard accepts a wide variety of other donations as well, including: housewares, collectibles, furniture, clothing, books, jewelry, electronics, and small appliances. Larger items may qualify for pick-up, simply call for details.
Menifee Valley Community Cupboard exists to help those in need, because as their slogan advocates, “Hunger never rests.”
