The Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation’s 4th annual Gala An Evening With Our Stars, held Feb. 11, 2012 at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula, was a sold-out event. Three students earned scholarships and community members were recognized for their support during this signature event to that supports the college and its students. The Gala sold 327 tickets, exceeding the 250 originally expected.
Guests at the annual gala dined on a delicious meal, enjoyed the music and danced to MSJC’s Menifee Jazz Ensemble and DJ Bob Bozonelos and bid on silent auction items to help raise scholarship funds for students. With the theme Beyond Imagination, A Celebration of the Visual Arts, the gala featured the artwork of many talented MSJC students spanning the disciplines from digital photography to sculpture.
Five students were selected as finalists in a student art competition and the audience helped choose three of them in the People’s Choice Awards to earn scholarships. Special guest judge Stacey Wexler, adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Art and Architecture at Los Angeles City College, judged the students work for a separate Visual Arts Award and gave them first, second and third place awards and honorable mentions. Adrian Padlan, Joe Posadas, John Lynn, Devin Lassey, Rachel Hatfield proved themselves victors and received awards and scholarships in their respective categories.
The two honorable mention participants received gift cards to the MSJC Bookstore.
In addition, the Alumni & Friends Awards recognized the following individuals for their contributions to the school: Rose Salgado, Duane Burk, Ron Guglielmana, and Erik Ozolins,
The offices of Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone, the city of Banning, the city of San Jacinto, Senator Bill Emmerson and Assemblyman Paul Cook provided proclamations to the five student finalists and the Alumni & Friends honorees. MSJC Superintendent/President Dr. Roger Schultz presented Foundation President Mary Lucas with a proclamation from Assemblyman Brian Nestande recognizing the Foundation on its 4th Annual Gala.
