Monday, January 16, 2012 the City of Canyon Lake will begin a year-long project to widen Railroad Canyon Road to three-lanes in each direction, according to a press release issued by the City of Menifee today.
The project will widen Railroad Canyon Rd from the City of Menifee’s western boundary through the City of Canyon Lake to the border of the City of Lake Elsinore. In addition to the extra lanes, two new traffic signals will be added.
Work hours will be from 7 AM to 5 PM. Some night work is expected.
The project will be completed in 5 phases with the first phase being work on the west bound lanes. The roadway will be widened on the outside of the curbs and by reducing the median. The work zone speed limit will be 35 MPH and will be enforced.
Drivers should expect traffic delays and reduced lanes. The project is expected to be completed before Thanksgiving.

I got a lot money that says there is no way this thing is done by thanksgiving. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't done by thanksgiving 2013. Look at the bridge project that was supposed to be done by Septermber 2011. Now they say March, and ite does finally look close, but with that huge detour ending I'll still lose a ton of time every day getting through canyon lake. I'm interested to see how they are going to actaully fit 2 more lanes without destroying some homes or businesses.
ReplyDeleteI agree. They have already destroyed many long-lived evergreen trees, chopping the roots off, and removed the plants that were there. Where is the money for this project coming from? If it's a government grant, I would wager they invented the project just to spend the money.
ReplyDeleteThey need to set the traffic signal east and west longer so it will ease traffic congestion!!!!!!!!
