The Annual Member/Guest Golf Tournament held at North Golf Course postponed in November due to a very soggy Saturday, was rescheduled and successfully took place Saturday, December 10, 2011 instead.
Golfers could not have asked for a more beautiful day to swing away. Even the early morning weather was sunny and bright, the perfect conditions for a most promising round of golf.
With over eighty participants, the Member/ Guest Tournament is North Course’s largest tournament of the year. The ultimate goal is to build relations within the golf community by encouraging current members to bring a friend, spread awareness, and of course have a good time while they’re at it.
As their biggest fundraiser of the year, the tournament is an opportunity for members to bring guests not only to participate, but also to check out the course and hopefully decide to join.
Head golf pro, Jaime Sanchez-Marin Jr., remarks of the event, “It is a wonderful atmosphere. With plenty of food, fun, and prizes…it’s a fun time for all.”
An entire list of varying contests and coordinating prizes enticed golfers throughout the day. A putting contest kicked off the tournament, with three obstacle course challenges. Jaime confesses he checked it out the night before concluding, “It’s pretty sneaky.”
Other competitions included: closest to the pin, closest to the line, hole-in-one at each hole, and a longest drive. Prizes ranged from a Seiko watch to cash winnings, but the coveted award was a brand new custom Prestige golf cart.
All levels of experience are invited to play in the tournament. Younger or less experienced golfers have their handicap factored in which makes things very even for all who play.
The proud grand winners of last year's tournament and North Course members, Cody Jensen and Craig Martin, enjoyed yet another day of golf together. Craig Martin took this years title of chipping champion as well.
After golfing all morning, participants enjoyed a buffet lunch and raffle ticket drawing. Cleo Brown has been the woman’s golf club president since 1999, and was responsible for organizing volunteers to help set up the lunch reception following the tournament.
It is this involvement by North Course’s members that makes it a particularly enjoyable club to be a part of. There are always events and a whole host of offerings contributing to the fun and friendly atmosphere.
The Member/ Guest luncheon was beautifully orchestrated with festively decorated tables and a hearty looking buffet catered by local pizza and pasta favorite, Giovanni’s restaurant.
Thanks in large part to an outpouring of community support and business donations, an abundance of raffle prizes lined several tables filled with gift certificates to local eateries and other establishments.
Despite the initial rain delay, the North Course Tournament turned out to be nothing short of a hole in one.

This is a beautiful golf course one of the best courses in the Inland Empire. It's affordable and kept up well as shown by the Member's clubhouse. My Dad & Mom have been members many years and we have enjoyed many rounds at this great course. Thank you for the great article and pictures of the North Golf Course.
