Christmas Tree Lot Brings New Life For Many

Like most Christmas tree lots the trees at the corner of Newport and Haun Road are grown on a family farm out of state, cut fresh weekly during December, and shipped directly from Washington to Menifee.

The unique element that sets this holiday lot apart from the rest is that 100% of proceeds from monthly tree sales benefits the non-profit organization, New Life Ministries. New Life provides residential sober living, transitional housing, and outpatient rehabilitation programs for over eighty young men each year.

Each of the two New Life residential facilities in Hemet can accommodate eight men at a time. Working to help struggling men get their lives back together, the program trains participants in specified career fields and then acts as a job reference to help them secure employment after program completion.




In addition, New Life’s employees are state certified to provide on site counseling for individuals as well as family counseling to help the men reconnect with estranged family members.

Upon entering the Christmas tree lot joyful Jerry Thronson, New Life administrator, greets tree-seeking customers with holiday cheer and an inviting smile. Jerry has been with the New Life program for seventeen years and has been giving back for twelve of those years.

Clearly invested in what he does, Jerry confesses, “Donations are not like they used to be. Even help from the state has ceased to exist.” The yearly Christmas tree lot is one of their only fundraisers and essential to keeping the program alive.

So for now, New Life will continue to offer Menifee the very best grown Douglas and Noble Fir pine trees for holiday decorating delight. Starting at just $29 for a 5 to 6 foot tree, all the way on up to a 10 foot beauty for $129.
