Sunday was a special day for Animal Friends of the Valleys, as they gave a go at adding Sunday adoption hours to their availability.
When asked the reasoning behind trying out a Sunday option, executive director Willa Bagwell plainly stated, “We wanted to see how successful it would be.” Then she added with a smile, “Today was very successful, we’ll be here the third Sunday of every month as planned.”
Over a mere four hour stint from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Friends of the Valleys adopted out nine dogs and cats to new homes. An 86-year-old resident took advantage of November’s senior pet month program and took home one lucky five-year-old cat named Daisy, for free.
Hopeful canines peered through glass windows, as pet seekers perused the neatly kept rooms one row at a time.
Adoption costs are only $60 for most pets with the option to have them spayed or neutered before you take them home.
With nine newly homed animals, and several more on hold, Animal Friends of the Valleys will continue to host "Paws on Sunday" adoption hours every third Sunday of the month.
