Menifee Excitedly Welcomes Miguel's Jr. Restaurant

It was an exciting day for Menifee residents when Miguel’s Jr. finally opened their tenth location to the public. After months of anxiously awaiting its arrival, watching the Marketplace parking lot as construction of a much-anticipated new dining establishment progressed, the time had at last come.

On Thursday, November 17, 2011 at precisely 10:45 a.m. to a crowd of approving city officials and patrons, it became official. With the help of an oversized pair of celebratory scissors, original founder and owner, Mike Vasquez formally cut the red ribbon.




Menifee Chamber of Commerce CEO, Dorothy Wolons, officiated the ceremony to just over forty onlookers including the Vasquez family, law enforcement officers, local business owners, and city representatives.

John Denver gave a few opening remarks including an anecdote stating that should all of Menifee’s residents want to sit down at a restaurant to eat, only half of the population would be able to do so at any one given time.

Thus, the city is more than excited to welcome a new sit down eatery particularly one, at the summation of Denver, “Combining quality food, reasonable prices, and an outstanding looking building.”




Mike and Mary Vasquez proudly stood by as their youngest son, and company President, Javier Vasquez gave a speech of humble gratitude and promise. Thanking the city of Menifee for choosing Miguel’s Jr. over other vying options, they vowed to give back to the community from day one.

Beginning with a generous 15% of Wednesday’s daily proceeds going directly to the Community Cupboard, Miguel’s wasted no time in living up to their word. Javier concluded on an assuring note, emphasizing that as a family and a company, “We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Menifee.”

Director of Marketing, Stephen Rezner, wrapped up the ceremony stating that it wasn’t necessarily a matter of selecting Menifee for their next location, but rather that “Menifee chose us.” With that being said, “We are happy to be here, and we are here for you.”




Upon entering their beautiful building the first thing noticed is the strikingly festive color palette. Amusement immediately follows as you take in the humorously witty decorative prints occupying the walls.

Beyond the vibrant ambiance, we delve into the heart of Miguel’s concept and the foundation for their sustained success, their home-style Mexican food. Which brings us face to face with the warm and welcoming Mary Vasquez, who admits with a knowing smile that each and every recipe is a carefully preserved family tradition.

Each menu item originated from a family recipe and has been passed down from generation to generation. Mary is the head chef of the entire operation, and can usually be found cooking and mingling with guests at one of Miguel’s full service restaurants.

She recounts the stretch in which she spent three months perfecting her carnitas recipe, trying and tasting for days until it was finally family approved. Using only fresh, authentic ingredients the quality of each plate is never compromised.

Patrons and employees alike were all smiles on Wednesday as orders were fulfilled and fresh made food was enjoyed with anonymous satisfaction.

Every bit the family business, you can feel (and taste) the love and care the Vasquez family has put into each aspect of the Miguel’s enterprise. The very essence of casual family dining, Menifee is glad to welcome Miguel’s Jr.
