Provecho Modern Mexican Grill opened its doors last night in Sun City to a specially invited group of VIP guests.
The new restaurant, owned by Steve Tapley, replaces the previous Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
Provecho, which is the Spanish equivalent to "bon appetit", will perhaps gain where Mi Casa left off, by providing exciting new dishes that no other restaurant in Menifee and Sun City currently offer.
Guests last night were treated bite sized samples of foods prepared by Provecho's very own Chef Ronnie. Ronnie previously worked for Vineyard Gourmet Catering of Temecula.
Ronnie was born to Mexican and Peruvian parents, and his creations reflect a fusion of those two culinary cultures.
Among the items on the menu is, "Pescado Frito", a plaintain crusted Mexican Sea Bass, with poblano-coconut rice, black beans and grilled nopales salsa. For an appetizer, try the "Gazpacho de Melon", a melon-based cold soup with cucumber, avocado, and Fresno red chile. The "Pork Pozole" is one of the restaurant's featured soups, with smoked pulled pork, guajillo broth, hominy, julienne cabbage, avocado, and cilantro crema.
Provecho is located inside the Sun City Shopping Center, a couple doors up from Boston Billie's, and is expected to open to the public this Friday, October 28.

I was there and what a wonderful, welcomed, and needed restaurant! The sample food had great flavor. The restaurant has been completely rebuilt and boy did it need it. Thank you so much Steve! Can't wait to see the new menu!
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! I hope the refurbishment of downtown Sun City continues...
ReplyDeleteGreat addition to Sun City. Adios Mi Casa, welcome Provecho. We lunched today and liked it. Even made a short video. A great addition to the Sun City restaurant scene. Try it and I bet you will like it. Friendly, good service, great food and an incredible menu. Can not wait to try to fish tacos with mango topping. Johan
